Youtube

What do I think about Youtube? I don't know...if on one hand I can say that it is funny and interesting because you can find videos about everything, on the other hand I think it is not so useful because there are so many stupid videos.
One can spend a lot of time in searching a video he/he needs before to find the right one because there are too many videos...probably there should be a control system or something similar (I'm not an expert of Youtube so I don't know if it is already so). However, it is also a mean of communication and every kind of people can publish something on it so..probably I should erase my prejudices!! If you want to have fun and if you have time, it is the right place!!
Obviously you can also find interesting and good videos on it but, for this case, TeacherTube is better! Here you can find very interesting videos who teach you something...every kind of topic, every kind of level! I really like it!! For students like us, there are
some interesting videos for language leaning but there also many other interesting topics!
We have discovered a new tool that can be useful for our English...at the end of this course we should speak as well as a mother tongue speakers!!!;)
See you!

Hi!

We see it in the same way - too many stupid videos. I also think that TeacherTube is better. Although it has far less videos, at least they are better. But TeacherTube is not that flawless after all. I found some really interesting videos about human digestion system, but they were incomplete, I mean, they finished abruptly like somebody had cut the electricity off. Maybe they need to work a bit more on it.

Hi!
I really agree with what u said, also for me it was difficult to find something good..something that could really be interesting..at the end I chose something funny..laughing is always good..and even when u are living a bad period u should try to be positive and above all strong..and laugh can help!
As u said youtube can be good if u have nothing else to do..or if u are searching for something in particular..but u need to be patient!Anyway watching bits of tv shows or news or listening to a music video are all useful things if u want to learn English!
see u!
Take care!

Hey! How are you, sweety pie?
I'm sorry you're a bit down in this moment, but I'm happy you chose such a video to come out of the sadness you feel. Be strong and try to think positive. Thing will turn to be wonderful to you, because you deserve it!

Talking about YouTube, I can understand that spending time to find only silly videos can be a waste of time. I suggest you to search in a different way, maybe writing more words or going straight to the peculiarity you're looking for. I agree with you about TeacherTube: it's a very useful site and there yoiu can find many many videos wich can help you improve the language or simply teach you something you didn't know, which is always good.
A big hug, see you soon, Fe

Hi!

As I commented on Eva's blog, I agree that YouTube is great collection of videos but many of them (I wouldn't say most of them because there are too many to be watched)are quite foolish... However I found even interesting videos about English learning, which might be very useful to improve our pronounciation, and about different matters too, such as guitar lessons, rare concerts and interviews. As I wrote on my post, I believe that YouTube might be improved in several aspects, for example the video sharing system, (which is not at all clear to me yet) and so on... that's why I added to my post about YouTube, a video about a community which is collecting opinion from YouTubers, which can help YouTube becoming a more functional and usefel source for all...
Bye!

Hi Elisa!

How are you? I hope you feel better!

You wrote that there are a lot of stupid videos on YouTube. I agree with you, and I wrote it in my post too. Sometimes you can also find offensive videos if they weren’t flagged as inappropriate. This is a negative aspect of this website.

Anyway, as I pointed out in my blog, YouTube has many positive aspects. First, I think it can link people thanks to videos, comments and groups. Second, it can be very useful for language learners. If you search for videos addressed to ESL/EFL students, you can find helpful sources. For example, I found a channel (this is how YouTube members are called) containing videos that deal with real English and grammar. You can find the link in my post.

YouTube is a huge collection of videos and you can find many interesting video clips. Maybe the website can seem confusing at first sight, but if you try writing some keywords you’ll find what you’re interested in. Let’s give an opportunity to YouTube! Together with podcasts this website can be a good way to practise listening and enriching vocabulary. Don't you think so? You wrote that we can have fun watching YouTube videos. That’s true! We can learn and enjoy ourselves at the same time. I advise you to search for pieces of sitcoms or movies in English. You can have fun and practise your listening skills without watching boring videos.

I noticed some mistakes, I hope you’ll appreciate my advice.

-spend a lot of time in searching a video (wrong)--> spend a lot of time searching a video
-before to find (wrong)--> before finding
-for this case (wrong)--> in this case
-remember that you can’t use ‘probably’ at the beginning of the sentence, but after the auxiliary verb or before the main verb.

See you!

Giovanna
